The term “Espoir” comes from the French word for “hope” and refers to young pétanque players aged 18 to 23. This category serves as a crucial transition between youth and senior competition, with many of England’s top senior players having honed their skills as Espoirs.
Our England Espoirs Teams compete annually in separate-gender European Championships, organized by the Confédération Européenne de Pétanque (CEP).
To support player development, Petanque England has a dedicated Lead Member for Espoirs, who, alongside experienced coaches, runs training and assessment days. These sessions focus on skill development and team selection for international competitions.
Are you under 23 and interested in taking your game to the next level?
Our Lead Member for Espoirs would love to hear from you!
