PE uses a system of Squad Selection Events (SSE) to find our Squad from which representatives for international competitions are selected. Our International Qualification and Selection document contains further details.
Our Senior England Men compete in international competitions at World level (organised by the FIPJP) and at European level (organised by the CEP).
The normal cycle is that in odd numbered years, our Senior Men play in the European Triples Championships and also the World Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles. In even numbered years, they play in the World Triples Championships and the European Singles Championship.
The international cycle has been severely disrupted by COVID-19, and unfortunately no international competitions took place in 2020 and nor will they do so in 2021. We are now looking forward to 2022 and following a multi-format, multi-round series of SSE competitions 2021, we have formed a National Squad based on the top 6 ranked players who will prepare together for international representation in 2022.
Our 2021/22 Squad comprises Jack Blows, Matt Eversden, Sofiane Lachani, Callum Lombard, Dave Plumhoff and Vince Wills.
Jonathan Sewell is Men’s Coach for 2021/2022 and Martin Hughes is the Lead Member for Men.
2018/2019 Achievements
In 2018, our team for the World Championships was Scott Ashby, Jack Blows, Sofiane Lachani and Sean Prendergast and they achieved a bronze medal in the Nations Cup (the lower competition played by teams who are unsuccessful in qualifying for the final stages of the main championship).
Sofiane competed in the Precision Shooting at the tournament and was ranked 24th out of 41 after the qualifying round, meaning he did not progress into the final stages.
Monty Quaia competed in the 2018 European Singles and achieved a gold medal in the Nations Cup. Monty (Singles and Doubles) and Sofiane Lachani (Doubles and Mixed Doubles) represented England at the 2019 World Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
