Introducing Our New & Improved Insurance Package!

We’re excited to announce a significant upgrade to our Public Liability (PL) insurance, providing broader and clearer coverage for all our members and clubs.

Previously, our PL policy was restrictive, covering only activities explicitly authorized or recognized by PE—leaving many clubs and members uncertain about their protection. After gathering feedback from regional officers, we have redesigned and expanded the coverage to better suit the needs of both clubs and individual players.

What’s New?

Starting April 1st 2025, the committee and every paid-up member of every PE-affiliated club will enjoy comprehensive PL insurance for all their pétanque activities—whether part of PE or not!

How This Benefits You

✅ Significant Cost Savings for Clubs

• Clubs that previously purchased separate PL insurance can now cancel those policies, reducing unnecessary costs.

✅ Automatic Coverage for All Paid-Up Members

• Clubs that never had standalone PL insurance will now have all their paid-up members covered, ensuring complete protection.

✅ Coverage Beyond PE Events

• Every paid-up club member is now insured, even if they are not yet a registered PE competitor or club member.

• Independent PE competitor members are covered for all pétanque activities—not just PE-approved events and leagues.

What’s Changing?

To support these enhancements, we’ve updated:
📌 The annual club insurance certificate
📌 The Confirmation of Insurance letter on the Marsh Sport portal

These updates will help clubs cancel unnecessary standalone policies while demonstrating valid PL insurance coverage to any interested parties.

Additionally, the Marsh Sport insurance portal has been updated to reflect this new coverage.

What’s staying?

Affiliated coaches, officials and competitor members also benefit from Personal Accident insurance. This is a ‘no fault’ benefit that provides a specified amount to a member, if they are injured whilst participating in recognised Pétanque England activities.

What’s Next?

The remaining PE insurance policies will stay the same for now, but we plan to review them in 2025. We’re also working to encourage more leagues to join the PE community—and many have already shown interest!
