The Worthing weekend was frenetic, hot (on Saturday) and full of learning experiences for us all.
Saturday was doubles day we had Amy G and Aimee R in League 1 producing an excellent 13-1 victory over a London pair and putting up a great performance against Sam Blakey & Reece Gould – that was the quality of opposition – who then gave them a few coaching tips.
Ayva and Tristan were in League 6 with Alex and Connor and two tough adult pairs – they all did great. James R supported his Dad in League 8 and did well as did Alex M partnering a French lass in League 11.
The afternoon produced more competition. We did not win any cups but we were so proud of the Juniors and the way they performed.
Sunday Triples:
We had Tegan, Aimee, Amy & Ayva;
Alex R, Lewis, Axel, & Zac and Connor, James, Charlie & Nathan.
A few of the juniors had not played in teams of four before and the introduction of a nosy coach was new to some.
Hot competition, cool surroundings, they did well. Many opponents approached me to congratulate us on our young players, their skills, their demeanor and overall performance. A credit to their parents, clubs and coaches.
Congratulations to Alex M – who won envelopes (note plural) containing ££££££, first the Bronze RU in the doubles with Marine
and then the Gold Consolage with two more French gals, great for cross channel relations.
A thousand lessons learnt by us all, another thousand to come.
Thanks to Claire Rickman for the photos.
