PE held its spring coaching day at Worthing over last weekend. Ten young players from Kent, Heart of England, GWR and Southern attended.
The day started wet and miserable. The juniors had a session on tactics in the cafe with Andy Barron, Callum & Steve Lombard and Steve Rudden, interesting discussions, as long as it made them think – good.
Then as the rain cleared they started throwing boule. We used six stations; pointing – squat and standing, with Jamie & Steve; promoting, Andy overseeing; spinning with Steve L; shooting, Callum and David; high lob, John; and shooting mat, Mark. Our coaches were superb, and were unanimous in their praise of the juniors – they listened! They were engaged!
After lunch a melee organised by Mark and won by Zac from Kent;
the top score in the shooting mat was 11 scored by James also from Kent.
At the end of the session the following six juniors were presented with their PE shirts [James (Kent), Amy (Heart), Matthew (Southern), Tegan (Kent), Alex (Southern), Connor (GWR)]. These shirts will be worn when representing PE at the London and Worthing Tournaments. The shirts kindly sponsored by Samueljacks Teamwear.
The objective of the day? Everyone to learn one thing, to make friends and have fun! Achieved, hope so but ask the kids.
