The National Veterans Triples Championships will be open to all Petanque England licensed members.
As it is the European Championships this year, Petanque England will be using the competition as a qualifier and it will therefore be a two-day competition. All teams should be aware of the CEP regulations for the European Championships especially Article 9-Federation Team and Article 11-General 11.02
The format will be the one followed by the European Championships. (this could be changed if there is a low turnout of teams)
Day One
- 5 round Swiss (timed games)
- The top 16 teams will progress to the main with the remaining teams being entered into the plate.
Day Two
- The top 16 will be placed in 4 poules of 4 teams based on their ranking in the Swiss.
- The poule games will play to the barrage system with 2 teams from each poule progressing to the quarter finals for the KO stage.
The highest placed eligible team at the end of the weekend will be invited to represent Petanque England at the 2023 European Championships.
The fourth Player, Coach and Head of Delegation will be allocated after discussion with the Lead Member for Veterans and the team. Their decision will then be passed by the Board.
