The PE Board is very saddened to learn that our long-term partner IoW Tours ceased trading on Wednesday 7th October 2020. We understand that despite trying very hard to keep the business afloat, the 90% loss of trade which has resulted from the COVID-19 epidemic has proved too much for the company to bear, particularly as it was faced with further cancellations for 2021.
IoW Tours has been a great supporter of pétanque in England and they always gave us a first class service in arranging our annual Inter-Regional Championships (IRC). We are very sorry indeed for the loss of jobs that has resulted, affecting people that we count as our friends.
PE was in the process of working with IoW Tours to secure a new venue for our IRC and we had made a lot of progress on that together. We are not affected financially by the closure of the company, but will obviously need to find a new way of ensuring we can finalise the arrangements for our IRC 2021 which we aim to organise for our members. We are confident that we will be able to find a positive way forward.
We would like to place on record our sincere thanks and appreciation for the all the work carried out by IoW Tours over the years in creating so many great experiences and memories for our members and officials. We wish everybody associated with the company all the very best for the future.
