Following the latest announcements from the UK Government on the lessening of restrictions around the COVID-19 epidemic effective from 4th and 6th July, PE is updating its guidelines for members and clubs.
The changes by the Government still do not allow us to play our sport beyond groups of six players from different households, so this continues to restrict the ability of our clubs, leagues and regions to organise competitive play.
Whilst respecting Government advice, our guidelines seek to help our members and clubs enjoy playing our sport safely.
We remain hopeful that the epidemic continues to decline and that before too long further Government announcements will enable us to return to wider competitive play. We’ll update again as soon as we can and in the meantime stay safe!

What are the new ‘rule of six’ guidelines for playing pétanque at our local U3Agroup please?

The position is clear, any petanque activity not organised under the aegis of PE by an affiliated club, league, region or nationally is deemed to be ‘informal’.
The latest Government advice is: “When playing sports informally with people you don’t live with, you must limit the size of your group to 6. It is illegal to do so in a larger group and you may be fined.”
